Recycling Policy
When roads are resurfaced, the old tar macadam is removed using specialised equipment, and whereas it would once have been disposed of in landfill sites, it is now preferred to recycle it, as it is a suitable material for low volume traffic situations that do not require a tar-bonded surface, and for compacted sub-bases.
This recycled material is variously known as planings, scalpings, scarifyings or RAP (Recycled Asphalt Planings), and in addition to consisting of crushed or milled asphalt, it may also contain joint off-cuts.
If you think recycled aggregate surfacing might suit your requirements, please contact us for more information. |

Used road surfaces ready for crushing to make scalpings, for re-use elsewhere.

Recycled aggregates are ideal for private driveways where a non-bonded surface is sufficient due to the low volume of traffic. |
